🏉 Breaking New Ground with the Penrith Giants – AFL Media Day Prep
At Logan James Creative, we’re known for our work in basketball—but when the Penrith Giants AFL Club reached out, we saw an exciting opportunity to expand our vision and bring our signature style to a new sport. Recently, we completed a pre-media day photoshoot at the club’s home in Cranbrook, marking our very first project in the AFL space.
The goal? A two-part mission:
- Connect with the club’s leadership to discuss the creative direction for the upcoming full-scale media day.
- Conduct a site visit and mini-shoot to test the space and lighting ahead of capturing over 200 junior athletes.
A New Chapter in Sydney Sports Photography
While our roots are deep in basketball photography, we’re passionate about telling the story of athletes—regardless of the code. This initial shoot with the Giants gave us the chance to begin shaping a visual style that suits the pace, energy, and character of Aussie Rules football. We had the chance to photograph a few young players as part of the prep session, and the results were strong. Even in a short time, we captured dynamic portraits that speak to the grit and pride these athletes carry onto the field. As we approach the full-scale AFL media day shoot, this initial session gave us valuable insights—from space measurements and lighting setup to refining a visual tone that feels authentic to AFL while staying true to the LJC SPORTS aesthetic.

Big Things Coming for the Penrith Giants
This collaboration represents more than just a new sport—it’s the start of something bigger. For the Penrith Giants and for our team, this shoot is about building something long-term, where we elevate how AFL clubs in Sydney capture and share their identity.
We’re excited to bring our high-quality sports photography approach to this project and help set a new benchmark for AFL team media in the region.
Stay tuned—our full media day with the entire Penrith Giants club is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to share what’s coming.
