There’s nothing quite like shooting an individual session with a talented player like Andre at his home court, Kevin Betts Stadium in Mt. Druitt. The morning had this nostalgic vibe that hit me hard—I spent over 15 years competing on these very courts, so being back felt like a trip down memory lane.

When Andre and his mother reached out to book the session, they gave me complete creative freedom. That’s music to a photographer's ears! With the gym empty and moody lighting setting the stage, I knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was electric, even with no one else around.

In just 30 minutes, we managed to capture some stunning images that showcased Andre’s skills and personality. The interplay of shadows and the rawness of the court really highlighted the essence of basketball. We joked around when reviewing the images on the day, as the vibe was much like something you would see in an Under Armour shoot. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love sports photography in Sydney—each shot tells a unique story, especially in a sport as dynamic as basketball.
